Acupuncture, acupressure, Chinese massage, Shiatsu
Acupuncture When energy (Qi) is flowing through the body, the body functions well. When Qi becomes blocked, organ function is impaired and symptoms of illness appear. Gentle stimulation, through the insertion of a fine needle, at precise acupuncture points when applied on the basis of a correct diagnosis, will aid the body's own self healing system.

Acupressure Acupressure works on the same principle as acupuncture but the stimulation of the acupuncture point is with the fingers or thumb, rather than the fine needle. Acupressure can be performed through loose clothing or combined with Chinese massage.

Chinese massage also called Tui na (tui meaning to push and na meaning to lift and squeeze). This is an ancient Chinese system of manual therapeutics with a wide range of techniques. While traditional Chinese medical principles form the theoretical basis, clinical experience governs its applications. Techniques range from light and soothing to those that are strong and invigorating. The massage facilitates healing by regulating the circulation of blood and Qi.

Shiatsu A Japanese therapy (literal translation is 'finger pressure'). The aim of the treatment is to normalise the flow of energy (Ki) in the body by applying pressure to obstructed or weak areas - note the Japanese word and Chinese word for energy are very similar - Ki and Qi. Shiatsu calms the body giving it time to heal itself and improve circulation generally and to specific areas. Shiatsu is done through loose clothing, no oil is used.
